About these dragons patterns
A dragon is the one fantasy subject that has always belonged in needlework — it was on medieval banners before it was on book covers — and a coiled dragon fills a square chart the way a knot does, with the body carrying the eye around the frame.
Here are dragons curled around their eggs, silhouetted across a full moon, worked into Celtic knotwork, breathing fire in stained-glass colours, and small cute dragons for a child's room. Scales are charted as repeated blocks, so the texture builds itself as you stitch.
Whole cross stitch only, no backstitch, no fractional stitches and no metallic thread required: the gold is a DMC shade, not a blending filament. A symbol in every square, and a floss key with real DMC numbers and skein counts.
What you get
- A counted cross stitch chart with a symbol in every square, so it prints on a black and white printer.
- A floss key naming real DMC shade numbers, with how many skeins of each to buy.
- Finished sizes worked out for 14, 16 and 18-count aida.
- Whole cross stitch only — no backstitch, no fractional stitches, no french knots.
- A PDF you download the moment you pay. Nothing is posted to you.
Questions about dragons patterns
- Are these dragons cross stitch patterns suitable for a beginner?
- Yes. Every chart in this collection is whole cross stitch only — no backstitch, no quarter or three-quarter stitches and no french knots. If you can sew one X over one square of aida you can finish any of them. Every chart is 130 stitches square, finishing at about 9¼ inches on 14-count aida; what varies between them is the number of floss colours.
- What is included in the dragons pattern download?
- A PDF the moment you pay: the colour chart, the same chart again in black and white symbols so it prints legibly on any printer, a floss key naming real DMC shade numbers with how many skeins to buy, and the finished size worked out for 14, 16 and 18-count aida.
- Do you post anything, or is it digital only?
- Digital only. No fabric, floss or hoop is included and nothing is shipped. The download link does not expire, so the file stays available whenever you want it again.
- Can I stitch these dragons patterns to sell?
- Yes. You can sell the finished pieces you stitch yourself. What you cannot do is resell, share or redistribute the PDF or the chart itself.

Collecting the set? Every pattern is $4, and five or more in one basket are $2 each — so the whole dragons shelf costs half as much bought together.
